The project reveals the intimate story of the artist's 6-month stay in Lisbon. It reflects the perception and experience of feeling in love, the connection and subsequent separation, abandonment and how this relationship influences the perception of the space - of the room, the streets, the city.

“you left me deconstructed in the most complex space“ | inkjet print transfer 70x50 cm

This strong emotional experience of feeling of love and dependent on a person and their subsequent loss provides a pathway for self-reflection for the healing process, and with its process of understanding opens a shared sense of pain and compassion. In this emotional state the memories and images of the loved person fill every space of experience we dwell. It portrays a sentimental and pathetic image of the well-worn phrase of a person in love - "I see you everywhere".

“Dear XX,

I went to my friend barbara gocníková’s site-specific installation, “sent but never received” yesterday. Strung from the ceiling were fragments of dead letters to a man she loved, that she’d cut up and hung. The room was filled with them. I spent over an hour in there. Thought of you. Cried. She was asking all the questions that I was asking too.

I’m performing as a part of her upcoming exhibition in August. I rang 2 of my friends today to tell them about it. About how I’m circling back to this project. I was preempting things, asking for support. I’m learning that this project isn’t just about me. […]”
